“I can highly recommend Shelley Cobb in Carlsbad. She is an outstanding tutor in many subjects, but most importantly she provides straight forward guidance to students of all ages regarding time management, organizational and note- taking skills, outlined study skills and open communication practices with teachers. All of this is combined with the fact that she closely listens to her students, can easily relate to and address their concerns and encourages swift improvement. She does a great job of promoting a high level of confidence in her students (which is infectious, and a feat in itself) because she realizes that it is so important for kids to experience. She is an excellent communicator with an ability to share her assessment following each meeting with a student including what was accomplished, what needs attention, what was highly positive and the plan of action agreed by her and the student in order to optimize results.”

"As a homeschooling parent I am always looking for extra resources to help my children out. Shelley has been working with my son for a few months now. During this time he has made great progress. Shelley has worked with his learning style and math anxiety. I see his confidence going up and he enjoys doing math now. We are so grateful to have found Shelley. I can’t recommend her enough!"
— Yesenia Sj, Homeschooling mom
“Our third grader works with Shelley for tutoring and homework help. We love that she goes beyond simply completing weekly assignments. Shelley teaches general study skills, such as how to approach test questions, how to look for (and circle) prompts in math word problems, etc. These skills are helping to build confidence and a strong foundation for later school years. We have seen an improvement in our daugther’s test scores. We highly recommend Shelley!”

“My eighth grader was not comfortable going into Spanish 2 this year, coming off of taking Spanish 1 online last year. Shelley has been a game changer for my daughter. We have been doing an hour a week for the last several months and my daughter is thriving now in Spanish 2. Shelley is great with kids and seems to know exactly what they need in order to succeed. Every week my daughter has come out of her session with Shelley much more confident and with a stronger foundation in Spanish. Before Shelley, my daughter was very close to dropping Spanish and switching her elective. Just 2 weeks into tutoring is all it took for my daughter to have a better understanding and confidence in continuing on with Spanish. I am happy to report that my daughter currently has an “A” in Spanish 2. I cannot recommend Shelley enough.”

“Shelley has been working with my daughter since she started 6th grade this year and we have seen a lot of growth in her organization skills and ownership over her homework. Her grades have improved a lot this year and Shelley has certainly contributed to Norah’s growth in confidence in her class work. Shelley is supportive and kind. She communicates well with me on Norah’s needs and accomplishments and I’m so thankful we have her support each week!”

"Shelley is an excellent tutor! She helped my daughter improve her grades in high school Spanish. Before, my daughter was struggling and didn't have much interest in the subject. With Shelley's help, not only did she improve her grades, but she also began to enjoy learning the language.
During the pandemic, remote learning was very challenging. Shelley was a great help during that time. She kept my daughter organized and on track in all her classes. After graduation, Shelley continued to tutor my daughter during her first year at college.
I strongly recommend Shelley as a tutor. She has been a tremendous help to us, and we are grateful for her assistance."
— Laura Cunningham, Mother of a sophomore at Orange Coast College, alum of LCCHS
"Shelley tutored my son for about 5 full years. She was and is truly incredible. She gave our son the tools he needed with math, life and writing. Had it not been for Shelley I really don’t think our son would have passed 8th grade let alone graduating high school. Shelley will forever be a part of our family."
— Amy B., Parent of a graduate of El Camino HS and current student at Mira Costa Community College
"Shelley is absolutely amazing. My daughter was really struggling with her freshman year, I was so blessed to find Shelley. Within a couple months of working with her, my daughter’s grades greatly improved. Shelley’s patient, loving and caring personality was the reason my daughter was happy to go tutoring every week. I am so impressed with Shelley and would say her level of tutoring is the absolute highest quality."
— Jen M., Parent of a 9th grader at Carlsbad HS
"We are so blessed to have found Shelley. Our son was failing Spanish until he worked with her. Shelley broke down grammatical concepts so my son truly understood the language and how to apply this information to conversation and writing. We highly recommend Shelley to any student struggling with the Spanish language or needing reinforcement."
— Gina Lacqua-Catalano, Parent of a 9th grader at Carlsbad HS
